(ANTIMEDIA)  — Thanks to a decision to accept Bitcoin as payment for his album “Animal Ambition” back in 2014, rapper 50 Cent is now reportedly sitting on a pile of the cryptocurrency currently worth somewhere between $7 and $8.5 million.

The rapper, whose financial status has fluctuated over the years since gaining fame with a string of hit songs in the early 2000s, collected around 700 bitcoins from the project, TMZ reported Tuesday. At the time, that translated into about $400,000.

Today, with the price of Bitcoin hovering above $11,000, that translates into 50 being a cryptocurrency millionaire. The kicker in the whole situation is that the rapper had forgotten all about the 2014 decision.

“I’m a keep it real I forgot I did that shit. Lol.,” 50 wrote in a comment Tuesday on his own Instagram post about the TMZ article. This fits, since TMZ, which claimed to have spoken to sources knowledgeable on the matter, reported that the cryptocurrency sat dormant in his account for years.”

The whole thing has a touch of irony given that “Animal Ambition” was one of 50 Cent’s lowest-selling albums. Still, there’s no denying the rapper has shown an aptitude for investment in the past.

A decade ago, 50 became a minority shareholder in VitaminWater, which earned him a cool $100 million when the company was later sold to Coca-Cola. Last July, he took in $60 million for selling his stake in Effen Vodka.
