Fed Has 14 Speakers This Week - Got Popcorn and Gold?

Full Economic Calendar

Fed Releases the  Kraken of Speakers

Big week for rhetoric as the US Fed lets 14 speakers loose on the public. Tuesday will be key as Yellen speaks. Any talk of balance sheet adjustments may be bearish for bonds. The week is starting off already casting  doubts on the effectiveness of any serious fiscal reform as the USD is weaker. Fed speakers may have to do a dance. Bad cops and good cops will be confused.

Our Personal favorite. Kashkari who essentially admitted the Fed manipulates stock prices. Truly a gift for incompetence wrapped in a Goldman resume. A sign that sucking up is now more important than actual financial talent. End The Fed times.

Patterns to Look for

  • Always note when the Fed has speakers before and after data releases as they do this Friday.
  • More notable when the US Fed speaks on same day as ECB does, there will be much real time texting across the pond.

Gold Players

Remain calm and ignore volatility this week. Be flat if you are a trader, or widen your levels and lighten your positions. Option Expiration is tomorrow adn despite worries, we see OI dropping and think that is not a big concern. Nevertheless, stupider stuff has happened. There could be a pin based on an OTC or exotic expiration.

  1. Words will not matter in the long run.
  2. The Fed speaks more when it has no tools left in its box. Not unlike a parent whose threats ofpunishment have been called a bluff
  3.  We feel that downside Gold  volatility will be met with buying unless Yellen announces that they have created a time machine.
  4. Brexit announcements are the outlier this week
  5. Gold is now a BTD asset. The bigger the dip, the bigger the investor in it.

Follow the colors, see the pattern. Don't be fooled.
