Violence At Rallies: "It's Okay When We Do It"

So you may have seen the rather graphic news about a White Nationalist protester who killed one woman and injured 18 more people by ramming his vehicle into a group of counter-protesters. However, most mainstream media aren’t talking about the violent actions of the Antifa protesters, which included busting open the head of one “Unite The Right” marcher and allegedly punching a woman who was reporting on the event.

The reporter later tweeted that she was fine but angry at her alleged assaulter for cutting off her recording and possibly causing damage to the phone. “I’m filing a charge against the guy for punching me but it’s slammed at the police station right now so prob nothing will happen,” she said as part of a series of tweets about the incident.

Where’s the balance?

This is another case of liberal mainstream media failing to be “fair and balanced” by reporting on the poor behavior of liberal protesters. Liberals are quick to jump on violence and poor behavior, or even a poorly worded statement, made by conservatives and have even gone so far as to attack Ivanka Trump for her statement condemning the violence in Charleston even though she was 100% in the right to do so. The common sentiment in the tweets quoted by The Blaze gives the impression that they think of Ivanka Trump as an extension of her father, not a person in her own right. Could it be possible that liberals contain enough residual misogyny to indulge in the same behavior that they once blistered the Chicago Tribune for when it referred to an Olympic medalist in trap shooting as “the wife of a Bears lineman” last year?

This sort of behavior implies that liberals genuinely believe that poor behavior is okay when they do it because they believe that their cause is just. They believe that they can commit violence in support of their cause because every conservative whose life and career they destroy and every Republican Congressman they can kill is one less degenerate Neanderthal who can oppose their march forward. When conservatives misbehave, it’s acceptable to call it out in the strongest possible terms and make the story go viral. When liberals misbehave, it’s excused and glossed over by mainstream media when it gets any coverage at all because the liberals involved are supposedly attempting to raise awareness for a good cause by getting public attention. That’s the liberal mentality.

Oh the hypocrisy

Of course they will accuse conservatives of being the hypocritical ones and pounce on anyone who does something that could derail that narrative. Their skewering of Ivanka Trump was simply the latest example of this. It’s as if liberals think that she is so incapable of forming her own opinions on events like the recent clash between opposing protesters that she could not have composed those tweets herself. However, it is unclear who they think would have written her tweets for her, as they also think that neither Donald Trump nor any member of his administration would have done any better.

The real truth is that this is an attempted deflection move that is meant to steer attention away from their own hypocrisy and poor behavior. The usual liberal rhetoric includes blaming the gun and not the person who pulled the trigger whenever members of Congress, or anyone else, are injured or killed in a mass shooting. To which the rest of us should say to liberals: Clean up your own house before you try to pass judgment on ours. We conservatives don’t like the alt-right and are perfectly willing to admit it. But when you say effectively, “It’s okay when we do it,” when pressed on the issue of violent wingnuts on the left, that’s when the discussion grinds to a halt because you’re saying that the threat of violence is the best argument you have in favor of your side of hot-button issues.
