Dear MarketSlant Readers: We Want You to Write

To Everyone Who Enjoys Reading MarketSlant

MarketSlant is a marketplace for ideas with a growing readership. If you have something to say, say it here.

Call to Arms

We are asking  readers to join us as writers NOW. Marketslant’s purpose is to give people with something to say a place to say it. If you have an opinion worth putting in the comment section, why not let it stand on its own as a story?

Join Us

Under “Soren K.” our small group has written on whatever we wanted without censorship. Other writers like Hashtag Trump, Goldzilla, Chris Vermeulen, Frank Holmes and Jay Taylor have also seen the opportunity to voice their opinions. Many more have written anonymously. Why not you?

What is Stoppping You?

All points of view are welcome. Anonymity is not a crime. Seriously, our collective name is some dead Danish philosopher. Think about it. If you can write a 500 word comment to something we wrote, why not make it a post? Stories ARE comments here.

Good Guys Wear Masks

Remember when you were a kid? The bad guys wore masks to cover their shame. Now the good guys wear them to protect their family and friends. Anonymity is no crime. Even better if you can put your name on it. But if you can't, anonymous does not mean invalid anymore. When the idea is bigger than the person, others will find it in numbers.

What has worked for us

MarketSlant was an opportunity to be part of something bigger than ourselves. And we want to encourage fresh points of view. Here are some tips and encouragement for new writers. It is what has worked for the Soren K. gang.

DO’s

  • Do Write anonymously if you wish. Marketslant does not track IP addresses
  • Do Self promote- We find it best to have 2 self-promoting links in a story.  One at the beginning, one at the end ( email, website, twitter address etc)
  • Do Use social media- share it with whomever you want
  • Do Ask for help- all stories submitted are “under review” for format, readability and inappropriate behavior (see DON’T’s). If you put in your story near the top:  “Can someone help embed a link, or pic for me” it will be done.  It may slow down the publishing, but MS will help you. We are traders who can barely use a phone without throwing it at some poor intern. Marketslant showed us how to embed a youtube video among other things.

DON’Ts- things that impede getting your message across

  • Don’t Embed links that go to direct sales pages.- You know, the type that doesn’t let you hit the back button, has popups, and says SIGN UP NOW OR DIE
  • Don’t Use profanity- we get called on it all the time
  • No Anthony Weiners- we know you are hot, keep it to yourself
  • Don’t use graphic imagery in title pic- and if necessary in your post, put a warning or better yet, link to it in your story.
  • Don't spell like an idiot- took us 2 months to find the spell-check button

Strength in Numbers

Topics that we personally enjoy, can corroborate, and possibly elaborate on in a supportive way may be  submitted by Soren K. to everyone's benefit

  1. If we think our audience will enjoy it, we want them to see it
  2. Proper credit will be given, your work is your own
  3. Content will not be altered in any way
  4. Comments added if any will be supportive and separated from your statements
  5. “submitted by Soren K, written by Joe Smith” is an opening to a wider audience
    1. We tweet, FB and linked in our posts. That would mean your story would piggy back our network as well as yours
    2. Certain Soren posts are picked up by major sites if they like them enough
  6. We will include in your post, previous stories you have written, especially if on a similar topic
  7. We will help clean up formats etc- embedded links, certain pic types work best, blog spacing is not Word spacing

What is in it for Us?

No-one is totally altruistic. Superman was selfish. Disagree? Then write on it.

  • Because the whole is greater than the sum of the parts
  • We think the MSM has ignored its responsibility and want to fill that gap
  • And we benefit as curators of good content
  • we've done what we had to for money. Now we want to do soemthing we like, and know the money will come if we do it right.
  • writing a book is boring without feedback while it is being written

What's in it for you?

Collaboration while retaining identity, a platform for voicing your ideas,  growing readership, optionality.

Would you rather the founding fathers not have worked together?  How would that have turned out?

Don't take it from us. We are just early adaptors. The best is yet to come
