Hillary Clinton: Trump's Economic Policies Are "Outlandish"

In her much touted economic speech, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton spent the hour-long event contrasting her outlook against Republican candidate Donald Trump. Hillary dismissed Trump’s economic plans, announced at an event Monday as “outlandish Trumpian ideas” and said that under his economic plans only corporations and millionaires will benefit. Quoting policy analysts, Clinton compared her economic plan against Trump's saying that all his policies combined would lead to the loss of 3.4 million jobs; however, she added that her polices are expected to create 10 million new jobs. She noted that even conservative pundits have warned that Trump proposals would drag the nation into another recession. Clinton said that corporation and the ultra-wealthy should pay their fair share and that money should be used to rebuild failing infrastructure throughout the nation. She reiterated her plan that within the first 100 days of her presidency she will propose creating the biggest infrastructure plan since the Second World War. Specifically, Clinton said that Trump’s proposal to cut the estate tax will save the Trump family $4 billion dollars. “My eyebrows went up when he said he wanted to abolish the death tax. Just think what we could do with 4 billion dollar,” she said. However, despite the two candidate’s contrasting views on the economy, they do have some common ground. Both Trump and Clinton are against the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which would be the world’s largest global trade deal. She said that he would stop any trade deals that kills jobs, lowers wages and weakens union. However she said that America shouldn’t hide behind its borders and needs to compete in the global marketplace. Clinton also took a dig at Trump, noting that a lot of Trump products are made overseas. “One thing Trump could do to make America Great again is to make great things in America again,” she said. Clinton repeated a lot of her policy proposals like making broadband internet available to all homes in America by 2020 but there were two new proposals including a simplification of taxes for small businesses, with Clinton saying that it should be as easy as printing a bank statement. The second proposal is an increase in the child tax credit. However there were no specific details of these proposals. Clinton announced her proposal to increase the child tax credit was to contract Trump’s proposal to make child care costs tax deductible. She noted that Trump plan again will only benefit wealthy parents. Clinton reiterated her support for raising the federal minimum wage, equal pay for women immigration reform and the creation of a renewable energy grid.
